Re-Unite Birmingham is delivered by Anawim who operates in four prisons -Drake Hall, Foston Hall and Eastwood Park and works in partnership with Midland Heart Housing Association.
During Anawim’s twenty five year history it has grown into an organisation that works with women from across Birmingham who are facing a range of difficulties. An important part of the service is the provision for women with children; the Family Service includes an on-site crèche staffed by trained child care workers and parenting advice for mothers. Referrals are received from Social Services and local children’s centres.
The Centre also operates as a one-stop shop, with a wide range of services on offer for women, for example, Birmingham Settlement provides a specialist money advisor on site as well as a mental health team. There are also a variety of courses, from the therapeutic to the academic and vocational (including accredited).
“Our aim is to help the women achieve their goals, gain independence and reach their full potential. We continue to develop our expertise, always looking for new and innovative approaches and ways of working and using knowledge gained in one area of our work to inform others. The Re-unite program makes an important contribution to this process”. (Joy Doal, Chief Executive)
