Re-Unite Greater Manchester is delivered by Threshold who provide in-reach support to women leaving custody. The service is currently accessed at HMP Styal and neighbouring approved premises. Referrals are also accepted from women leaving custody who will be returning to the Greater Manchester area. The programme utilises its close working relationships with a range of local partners and organisations, including the local Probation service. Threshold is part of the New Charter housing group one of the largest social landlords in the area who support the delivery of the different elements of the Re-Unite programme.
Threshold works in a holistic way to support vulnerable and socially excluded people to achieve their individual goals at their own pace in their own communities. Threshold has a strong track record of delivering services to both offender groups and vulnerable people. The Re unite programme fits well with the services already offered by Threshold, including well-established women’s services, supported housing schemes, floating support and other services across Greater Manchester.
Re-Unite Greater Manchester has a real advantage in terms of accessing suitable homes for the families on the programme. Threshold through its strong links with local housing providers, including the private rented sector are able to identify and access suitable accommodation for the women and children accessing the service.
The service aims to support the women and children in building confidence and the necessary life skills to enable them live independently within the local community
